Personal and fandom blog for a geeky professional writer who (as the username suggests) takes critical literary analyzation VERY SERIOUSLY. Also takes LGBTA rights, aneurotypicality rights, and feminism pretty seriously, but not herself.

Hot Topic is known amongst artist groups as one of the worst offenders of art theft in U.S. retailers. I know artists are important to What Pumpkin, and I’d imagine multiple cases of art theft would be a very big deal. The most well-known of the cases were stolen fan art from independent artists, which is the same demographic the Design Contest was aimed to.  I’m an artist myself and I wouldn’t want to support a store that steals from my peers.

The people running Hot Topic have zero respect to artists and to copyright law. They’ve been ripping-off independent artists’ storefronts, and continue do so. The whole company really should have been shut down long ago.

If you support artists, independent, fan artist, or any kind, you should oppose Hot Topic and MSPA’s association with them!

Tell What Pumpkin to kick Hot Topic out of the Design contest RIGHT NOW.

We have so little time left to stop this please tell them that it is completely unacceptable to do any sort of business with petty art thieves.

Even if you don’t know what to say, or if you think it would compromise the contestants; It won’t. Just please voice your thoughts in anyway you can put them. Don’t let Hot Topic get a dime out of Homestuck.

And I might note that it’s worth keeping an eye out to make sure your own work in’t taken advantage of.

I was always wondering about this. I used to give them the benefit of the doubt and that the artists sold the designs to them or something, but the bows kinda drew the line for me. I would always see girls wearing them and got confused when they would say it’s from Hot Topic and they’ve never even heard of Magical Ribbons.

How do you feel about feminists that make poorly veiled misandrist statements under the guise of feminism, which is as the dictionary defines is the advocacy of the belief that men and women should equal rights?

New Home Is Where The Internet Is!  Tumblr’s 10-page limit is keeping me from posting the whole thing, so head on over to the webcomic to read the rest (plus a blog post with Paris photos and doodles).

I’m going to Strasbourg tomorrow!!!  I’m so excited.  We might take a day trip into Germany and the Black Forest 8-D AHHHHHH.  Back soon, love and hugs~

-Your friend Tally

Tally is not only an AMAZING comic artist but she’s living the dream! I hope my girls grow up and don’t let the constant yet abstract notion of fear dictate how they live in this world. Way to go Tally!! :D

I love this so much! As someone who’s only really started to travel in the last year, I totally get that initial terror. I’ve been pretty fortunate, and made so many friends all over the world. I went to Boston on a whim this weekend and got to spend an evening with comic people I met mostly through twitter - and everyone was wonderful. Yes, I got terrible food poisoning on the way home, but I also got to have barbecue and Manhattans with people who used to be strangers. Travel! It’s good for you.

At least three dead in two shootings at Jewish centers in Kansas. 15-year-old boy reported to be critically wounded; police report one person was in custody; man reportedly yelled ‘Heil Hitler’ when police arrested him.

Reblogging again to add:

Also, non-Jews, please spread this. People will forget about it otherwise. The police say they aren’t ready to call it a hate crime, despite the fact that witnesses have said that the man was asking people if they were Jewish and waiting for an affirmative response before shooting. The more people who are paying attention to this story the harder it will be for it to be swept under the rug.

A lot of people are currently very excited about the recent Cap movie. If you believe that it was worthwhile for Steve Rogers to fight fictional nazis, please show that you care about the people harmed by those in the real world who still agree with Nazi ideology. If you can get super excited and make tons of posts about Cap, then you can do this too, right? (obviously there are people who are upset/triggered by this stuff, which is an entirely different situation. but if you can spread the word please do)

I’m very sorry to those of you who don’t come to my blog expecting to see news or other horrible real world stuff. I thought it was worth putting out there.
